Borrowing

New books will be available exclusively to Camden Library patrons for 6 months. After the 6 month period, the books may be requested by other Evergreen library patrons.

DVDs and videos at the Camden Library may not be requested and sent to other Evergreen libraries. However, Camden Library patrons may request DVDs and videos from other Evergreen libraries. Such requests typically mean that the items must be shipped, and these items are often damaged in transit. However, any Evergreen patron may physically walk into any other Evergreen library and check out any material found on the shelves.

Patrons may check out up to 100 items, including up to 3 DVDs and 3 videos.  Do not count against our local limits.  (A patron could check out up to 7 DVDs from other libraries and still have 3 checked out from the Camden Library.)  Books have a 21 day lending period. DVDs and videos are loaned for 7 days. There is a one day grace period after materials are due. Fines are $.25 per day per item, for a maximum of $10 per item. Please be aware that ten overdue items, each with a maximum fine of $10 is a fine of $100. Fines accrue very quickly. Please return materials on time.

Requesting Items via a Hold

Items may be placed on hold using the online public access catalog (OPAC) in the library, and through our website using a home computer. Library staff can also place holds for patrons, either via phone or in person. Holds cannot be placed via a message left on the library answering machine.

Materials requested from other Evergreen libraries are delivered once a week to the Camden Library. If your item has arrived at the library, you will be notified by either email or phone. You have one week to pick up your hold.

You may have 20 unfulfilled in the system at any one time.

You may not place holds in the following cases

  • You may not place holds on DVDs or videos at libraries who are not participating in transiting their DVDS
  • You may not place holds on new materials available at other libraries

Renewing Items

Items may be renewed one time, as long as no other patrons have placed holds on the items. You may renew items in person, by phone, or online. You may not renew items by leaving a message on the library’s message machine.
